The Eighth Squadron of the Aircraft Flotilla, in service from 1976 to 1997, consisted of 13 AV-8S and two TAV-8S aircraft, with the mission of being the offensive vector of the Naval Force in which it is framed, as well as developing any other day or night mission that may be entrusted to it within its capabilities.
ISR: Identification, surveillance and recognition of objectives of interest.
CSAR: Combat Search and Rescue.
Carry out Combat Air Patrol (CAP) in defense of the Naval Force within the capabilities of the assigned aircraft.
Carry out armed reconnaissance and attacks against designated naval and land targets, using all available ammunition types.
Conduct close air support (CAS) in support of a force deployed on the ground.
Maintain the ability to carry out missions aboard aircraft carriers and other ships with air capability, as well as from forward bases.
Maintain the ability to carry out extended missions using the aircraft's in-flight refueling capability.
